The SunVelo riding team has years of group leading experience

Alastair Irvine

Alastair leads the SunVelo riding team, coordinating SunVelo’s riding operations. Alastair; a qualified coach and multiple Commonwealth Games medallist, former Irish Road Race and Time Trial champion and medalist in Cyclo Cross, MTB and Velodrome, has been three times Northern Ireland Commonwealth Games performance director, selector and Team Manager. Alastair raced many European stage and single day classic races including the Tour of Europe, Giro della Regioni, Fleche du Sud and Ruban Grantier. He is a past victor of the international Tour of the North and a former continental professional cyclist. In more recent years he has ridden some of Europe’s most iconic sportive events including the Marmotte, Novi Colli, Majorca 312 and Tour of Flanders Sportive. Alastair brings a huge wealth of experience across multiple cycling disciplines, has been leading cycling groups for over 10 years and riding the Majorcan roads for over 20 years

Alan Geoghegan

Alan brings to SunVelo an extensive racing background experience. In more recent years he has specialised in long distance multi-day charity challenge rides and sports touring events. In addition to leading riding groups across various locations in Europe Alan has also supported charitable groups on distance challenge rides in Canada, Mexico, South Africa, Malaysia and Thailand. In 2000 Alan was part of a team that rode coast to coast across the United States of America. Alan is a multi-disciplined cyclist as well as being a skilled cycle mechanic often seen in a team car at elite events and requested by some professional teams to ‘mechanic’ at major competitions. Alan’s experience will be especially helpful to those riding with SunVelo preparing for long distance sportive events and charity rides.

Tomeu Coch

Tomeu is a former Top 10 ranked Majorcian Triathlete. In his youth he was Majorca swimming champion and later a championship winning basketball player. A speaker of several languages he has legendary knowledge of Majorca’s roads and lanes, local history, architecture and landscape. Tomeu is passionate about showing you around ‘his’ island he gives a wonderful insight into the people, culture and customs. An experienced touring and sportive rider he has great skill in the leadership of groups, developing confidence in all who cycle with him. Tomeu leads by example, regularly completing the annual challenging Majorca 312km sportive.

Tomeu is also a qualified masseur and provides the SunVelo post ride massage option. His years of experience looking after and rejuvenating cyclist’s tired legs will ensure you are refreshed for the next days’ adventure.
